[Opinions] Sinead
Opinions on Sinead? Do you like it or not, and why? Do you think it's hard to pronounce in English?
Any combo ideas? I like Sinead Rose right now, not particularly because of the sound but I like the imagery of a rose with the name Sinead for some reason.
How do you think a Sinead would look, act, etc?

I adore Sinead. If I had a girl tomorrow Sinead and Mairead would be in the running as names. I can never decide which one I love more. Sinead is lyrical, mysterious, soft yet strong at the same time. I think Sinead O-Connor has made the name sufficiently well known outside of Ireland to make it usable. The imagery of a rose with Sinead is spot-on. But Rose is a filler mn by now. Other options:Sinead Olivia
Sinead Pearl
Sinead Marianne / Mary
Sinead Isobel
Sinead Catriona / Cathleen
Sinead Verity
Sinead Lilith
Sinead Winter
Sinead Alice / Alix
Sinead Eveline
Sinead Althea
Sinead Eliane
Sinead Christiane
Sinead Frances / Francisca
Sinead Valerie
Sinead Emeline / Emmeline ("-leen")
Sinead Cordelia

The pronunciation isn't intuitive for English-speakers but a lot of people are familiar with the singer. I don't really have any strong image/impression for Sinead, maybe because I don't care for the sound of it, so I just always "skip on down" and never pay much attention to it. I am seeing it as yellow now that I stop to consider it. I do like Mairead; it's just the "shi" beginning I'm not fond of. I've never liked the "sha" ending of Natasha either. I guess I'm funny about "sh"s. Never the less, when I read Sinead Rose I immediately thought it a nice combo.

I wouldn't say that it's hard to pronounce. As in, if someone said it to me, I could repeat it back. But it might be hard to figure out pronunciation from seeing it written down. If I hadn't been on this website for years, I wouldn't know how to pronounce it. I don't like the sound of it, because I don't like the "AYD" ending. It reminds my of so so many names with that sound. I also don't like Sinead in an English-speaking country, because I think it would get annoying to correct people all the time.

I don't think it would be that difficult for Americans to pronounce, as most people are familiar with Sinead OConnor. But I think the sound is unattractive and OConnor is not especially attractive either, and her most famous song was and stil is overplayed.
