Katrina
Katrina mostly because I love the nn Trini. Many years ago when I first worked at the coffee shop, before it had even moved the first time, our favorite regular customer was named Katrina nn Trini. I've loved that nn since then, plus Trini from the Power Rangers was awesome. :P In all seriousness I just think Trini sounds so cute, though I think we are more likely to have a daughter named Citrina with the nn Trini, than having a daughter named Katrina nn Trini.
If you love nn's Katrina has a lot of nn potential other than just Trini. Kat and Katie are some of my favorites but you could also do Kate, Kay, Kiki, Kit, Kitty, Trina, etc...
I like Lily but it is a bit common and over used at the moment and it has very little nn potential. Katrina is beautiful and not over used and probably by the time you'd use it Katrina won't be so linked in peoples minds to Hurricane Katrina. People had this name before the hurricane so I think it would be strange not to use it just because it was the name of a hurricane, no matter how damaging a hurricane it was.

I prefer Lily. Not only because it is my username (I actually don't like it that much anymore) but because Katrina seems slightly 80s dated, makes me think of Hurricane Katrina and could be shortened to Katie which I don't really like. Lily is way too common but I'd still prefer it over Katrina. Karina and Carina are similar but really really pretty, in my opinion.

Katrina. It's very well-rounded. Suits a playful girl or a powerful matron or anyone in between. I know a Katrina who was born in 2005 not long before the disaster. I don't think that anybody who meets her is likely to associate her name with the storm. But then, we don't live anywhere near where it hit.
Lily is ... what word is the counterpart of butch? I dunno. It's overbearingly feminine. I think it's pretty, but wouldn't want to be a Lily.

Really? I always saw Lily as a spunky, smart sort of name, but I know people see things differently, so whatevah.

Yeah, I can see it that way, too, sure. Since when is feminine not spunky and smart? (J/K I know you didn't mean that) I don't think it's a bad name. Sorry if I sounded more negative than I meant to. I like names that seem really feminine, and ones that seem really masculine, and names that are not so gendery. I guess I think of lily-livered and lily-white and that Christina Rossetti poem "The lily has a smooth stalk, will never hurt your hand ..." lol. And the contrast with (slightly prissy) Katrina maybe brought that out.

I've always liked Katrina, but Lily is nice too.
I worry Katrina could be considered insensitive where I live. Plenty of people came here after they lost everything in the hurricane. That's probably not an issue in other places, though.
