[Opinions] Lindsay
I really like this name. It has a 70s retro feel even though it peaked in popularity in the mid 80s. Do you think it's too soon to be revived? Is it too Lindsay Lohan or are there enough Lindsays out there so it won't get associated with a certain person? Have you met many?
Lindsay or Lindsey?
Lindsay looks more authentic to me but Lindsey looks prettier. I think I like them about the same. Opinions?

I've met one-my five year old daughter! :)
I knew it peaked in the 80's when we chose the name, didn't care. I love so many 80's names and we just adored Lindsay. It was the right name for our little girl and it fits her to a tee. She's spunky and beautiful and happy. I just love her name and wouldn't change it.
I have met two other Lindsays recently-one her age and one a year younger (one was Lindsay, one Lindsey). Also met a ten year old Lindsay (not sure on spelling) not long ago and an eight year old Lindsay (this spelling) over the summer. So there are young Lindsays out there. I myself think it's too pretty of a name not to be in use.
I do wish Lindsay Lohan didn't go on her downward spiral right after I picked the name but I don't think the name is overly tied to her. It's a name used by enough people that it shouldn't only be associated with Lohan.

I like Lindsey but dislike any other spelling. I have met one in her 20s but I don't know the spelling.
Lindsay as a girl name is one of those names I never heard of until I was nearly an adult, except as a rare male name. Names in that category pretty much never appeal to me, and Lindsay doesn't really. I might have liked it if I had known of any female Lindsays growing up. Honestly, I still think of it as a male name, along the same lines as Tracy, only the switch to feminine was before my time so I like Tracy as a female name too. I have met a couple of female Lindsays. I expect Lindsay to be female, but in my head it's a guy name used for girls.
I prefer Lindsay. Lindsey makes me think of linsey-woolsey. I don't think it's too Lohan - the name was popular enough that she doesn't own it.

Lindsey is my name and I absolutely hate it. I don't feel like it's special at all. I knew plenty of them growing up and none of them were particularly nice people.
That's partially the reason I go by Indy. (It's hiding in there: Lindsey.)
Also, I think you may be right about it not being okay to try to renew it yet. It will just be like the Peggy and Linda that I know who are my age. In a class of Megans and Courtneys and Jessicas and Heathers, Peggy and Linda felt like names for your mom's friends. They weren't young enough to fit in or old enough to be "vintage" and cool again.
If you really love it that much, make it a middle name.
But personally, I think the only way this could be refreshing these days would be to put it back on a boy again.

We never had a Lindsay avalanche where I live. As a child I was told that Lindsay was correct for boys and Lindsey for girls, but I suspect this was always fantasy. I like them both, and I have no difficulty at all in ignoring Ms Lohan!
I had a colleague once whose parents couldn't choose between Lesley and Lynne, so they named her Lynsey. She liked it; I found it unfortunate - a good opportunity lost.

I really like this name. I have some relatives and have known a few people named Lindsay. They all are in their 20s and I think it suits them. And I don't actually associate this name with Lindsay Lohan...
I think Lindsay or Lindsey works. But the Lindsays I have known have spelled it Lindsay and when I write it I naturally write an "a" instead of an "e", but that's just me. :)
