I generally like classics, but never have liked Gregory. It has a heavy, clunky sound. Greg is worse. Greg and Doug = two of my most-disliked nicknames for classic male names.

Gregory is in my top 10. I love it, and I'd be thrilled to see it on a little boy. It does have a sort of mid-century feel, but it hung on to the top 100 through most of the 90s, so I don't think it's tragically outdated. I lump it with names like Richard, Stephen, and Philip: a classic, manly name currently experiencing a downturn in popularity.

If anything about Gregory is clunky and outdated, it's probably Greg. Luckily, Gregory has other nn options. I like Greer, Gregor, and Rory.

Oh I love it, it's very handsome and good-guy-ish. I think it's quite classic and doesn't feel very dated. Maybe ever so slightly because I would be pleasantly surprised to see it on a little boy. I don't think there's anything clunky about it at all, but I guess I often like names with more harsh sounds because I don't see them that way. I love the red and green colors in it for me too.

I've never liked it. Greg is an OK nn but Gregory is nms. I prefer Geoffrey. I know a 20-something Gregory, but his dad's Ukrainian and the name fits his Ukrainian surname.
