[Opinions] Kailani
It's in the Hawaiian top 100 for 2011. I really like Kailani. Do you think it's too cutesy? Or too exotic? I really like the spelling Kaylani as well, it changes its color to pink. Which spelling would you use? Too close to Kayley, Kayla and all the other popular names? kay-LAH-nee or ky-LAH-nee? My guess is that it's ky-LAH-nee.
According to this site Kai means 'sea' and Lani 'sky, heaven' and I really like that.

I like Kailani, though more so when I was younger. Now I do find it a little "cutesy", as you put it. You do have Kai and Lani to fall back on as nicknames -- somehow, they actually sound less cutesy.
I don't like Kaylani though; it looks odd and appears to change the pronunciation. The first syllable of Kailani rhymes with "sky", while Kaylani is like the name "Kay". I don't think changing the i to a y is necessary at all.

It's pretty and definitely a nice change from the sickly-sweet Kaylee. I don't see it making very much headway outside of Hawaii though.
