[Opinions] Re: Sylvia
in reply to a message by Jaime
Sylvia is one of those overlooked gems that needs to be rediscovered. "What light is light if Sylvia be not seen? What joy is joy if Sylvia be not by?" It's known, but not overly popular like Olivia, etc. I've always wondered why the french form of the name, Sylvie, didn't catch on more. It also makes a cute nn for Sylvia, by the way. I've seen Louise used more frequently as a mn than a fn, but I still wouldn't say that it is a filler mn. It's not nearly as popular a mn as Marie, Anne, Lynn, etc.Sylvia Diane / Diana is lovely. It ties in the Roman aspect of Sylvia nicely. Other suggestions:Sylvia Astraea (good for a Virgo child)
Sylvia Aurelia / Aurelie
Sylvia Camilla / Camille
Sylvia Maia
Sylvia Patricia (= a noble forest)
Sylvia Virginia
Sylvia Frances
Sylvia Catherine
Sylvia Lois (variant of Louise)
Sylvia Rosamund
Sylvia Rosalind (2 Shakespearean characters)
Sylvia Imogen
Sylvia Helen (= a light in the forest)
Sylvia Mary
Sylvia Margaret / Margot
Sylvia Irene (= a peaceful forest)
Sylvia Rose (a filler mn, but still nice)
Sylvia Pauline
Sylvia Iris
Sylvia Blythe
Sylvia Eleanor
