[Opinions] Salome
Today's name of the day. What are your thoughts on it?

Fine in English when pronounced SAlomay. Pretty awful, and surprisingly frequent, in Afrikaans when pronounced saLOOuhmi.
I don't like the sound of it because it reminds me of salami and, to a lesser extent, salmonella. The fact that I associate the name with a severed head on a platter doesn't help.
Add an unpleasant sound to an ugly assocation, and I'm not a fan.

I think it's pretty.
Well first off, I've never been sure how to pronounce it. Second of all, no matter how you pronounce it it sounds awfully close to salami. Third of all, the only Salome anybody knows about (I don't know of any famous or nonfamous Salomes) is the one in the Bible who did a sexy dance and asked for somebody's head on a plate as payment.
I think you're in the minority for one it's a city in France so it's not exactly obscure. Other Salome's references besides the one in the Bible:
poem by Apollinaire, U2 song, Louis Armstrong song, city in France,

I don't know why, but I don't like it. Maybe because it makes me think of salami?!
I really like it. Pretty, not overused and it has something mysterious :)
I think it's pretty, when pronounced sal-o-may /sal-o-meh. Salomea is nice too.
