[Opinions] Mallory
Opinions on Mallory? 80s dated? I kind of like the sound (I like names with a similar rhythm such as Tiffany, Melody and Kimberly too) but dislike the meaning so much that I'd only use it for a character. Have you ever met one?

I know 1 Mallory. She's such a sweet girl. She's 24ish. And dark haired and thin. She's a sweetheart. And very helpful.

Dislike it. But I also dislike the other names you mentioned as well. I've met one before, a girl I met while on vacation. It does seem dated to me.

I remember loving Mallory when I first heard it on Family Ties and being disappointed that the character was such a dim bulb. I thought Mallory sounded sharp and interesting. I still do, really. I've only met one IRL, and she was born in the 80s, so between her and Mallory Keaton, Mallory does have a bit of an 80s vibe for me. It doesn't feel really dated, though, unlike other 80s names like Dustin, Cory, Tiffany, or Crystal. I wouldn't be surprised to see Mallory in a BA today. The meaning doesn't bother me, but name meanings rarely do.

I've known two. The first one was an outgoing brunette cheerleader, friendly and nice. The second was a very smart blonde, a fellow english lit major (she sometimes went by Mal). So I have good associations with the name. I think it sounds a little 80's but not like the other names you listed, I wouldn't be surprized to meet a young Mallory. The meaning would also keep me from using it IRL.

I like it. It sounds warm and friendly to me. It's too bad about the meaning. There was a girl named Mallory at the dance studio I went to as a child, and I know someone with a brother named Mallory.

I have met a Mallory before. She's a strawberry blond, green eyed, freckled, pretty and smart 16-year-old. Her sisters also have names starting with M and her brothers all have names beginning with T.
I've always rather liked the name because it doesn't really have the same popular as Kimberley, Tiffany or Stephanie. I also didn't know the meaning, which although it isn't the best isn't horrible either. I'd say it could be safely used because it's pretty, not very popular now and the meaning isn't very well known.

I like Mallory. I don't think of it like Tiffany, Melody, Kimberley etc... those are sort of "cheerleader" names to me, and Mallory is darker and less specifically 80's IMO. It reminds me of that girl in those books with the goblins... can't remember the name of the series, but they I think made a movie of it. So basically Mallory makes me think of a dark-haired fencer :P
I "like" the meaning in an ironic way, so I probably wouldn't use it but I wouldn't really mind having the name myself.

The Spiderwick Chronicles......Those are the books you mean? I used to read those to my brother when they first came out.Anyway, I rather like the name Mallory. I picture a quiet, homely girl with a sort of fierce inner strength that few people know about.

I know a few Mallory's. I used to hate the name but it's growing on me. In Haywire, the mc is Mallory. I know a little girl named Malorie. Looks too much like calorie, which Mallory already reminds me of too much anyway.
