[Games] Re: luvmonkeezz's Adoption Agency
This is my first one of these! :D Apologies for the length, and I hope I haven't screwed it up!FAMILY
LN: KecskemétiYOU
Name: Dr. Niviarsiaq Agathe (Kaspersen) Kecskeméti "Nivi"
Age: 31
Occupation: Anthropologist
Disabilities: Nivi suffers from congenital prosopagnosia, most commonly known as "Face blindness". It has little impact on her other memory, sociability or mental state, and she recognises people through voice, behaviour and body language. That said, it may mean she takes a little extra time to recognise new people, but once she's attuned to their body language, smell, voice, behaviour, turns of phrase and other traits, she recognises them without much trouble.
Hobbies: Reading (she loves to read), researching items of historical interest, reading anthropological, historical and scientific/psychiatric journals, swimming, taking walks or hikes, watching comedy television shows, particularly sketches. She enjoys British comedies, cooking (particularly seafood, spicy and Asian dishes) and/or experimenting with cooking and learning new things. She also likes playing board games, puzzles and cross-words and having small parties and get-togethers with friends, family and neighbours. She finds people fascinating and is very fond of animals in general - cats in particular, but also other domestic and wild animals, donating some money and time every month to a number of charities and no-kill shelters as well as health and social projects for people. She loves introducing Laila to the natural world and showing her animals in petting zoos and safari park animal projects, and playing with her cats.Significant other
Name: Mr. Zsigmond Éliás Kecskeméti "Zsiga"
Age: 39
Occupation: Art teacher at a local secondary school and freelance artist
Disabilities: None
Hobbies: Zsiga enjoys drawing, painting, sculpting, carving and sketching, obviously. He also enjoys reading classic, samizdat and experimental literature, surfing the internet and learning and then forgetting phrases in new languages. His first degree was in English and Russian before he dropped out to go to art school. He likes working with older teenagers and young adults in artistic projects and charities, and like his wife is an enthusiastic cook. That said, Zsiga tends to be more over-ambitious and thus create a mess, burn half of the food and then order a take-away. He's still incorrigible on that front. He loves trashy horror movies, everything fantasy and sci-fi and the odd bit of comedy (much like his wife), lazy nights in with his wife and child(ren) and popcorn-junk-food-bad-film evenings. He also likes animals, plants and DIY. He's good with animals, well-meaning but inempt towards plants and terrible at his DIY. Hence why the attic is a bit of a mess. Zsiga cares a lot about child charities and adoption, since his younger brother Béla was adopted when he was five, and the two are still very close; in fact, it was Zsigmond who wished to adopt in the first place. Zsiga isn't much into sports or physical exercise and has a bit of middle-aged spread creeping in as testimony. Nonetheless, he does like long autumn walks. Even though he is almost 40, many say he seems, looks and acts young for his age, both in a good and bad sense. Nivi says it is this which first endeared him to her. Before Laila's birth, she was worried that he was too immature to be a father. Since then she has been consoled that he is a natural. Current children (name, age, interests, disabilities):
Name: Laila Zsofia Kecskeméti
Age: 5
Disabilities: None.
Interests: Laila enjoys art much like her father, and outdoor activities. She enjoys running, skipping, (unfortunately) climbing and is looking forward to learning to swim. She is very adventurous and occasionally impetuous, enjoying exploring and meeting animals and other children. She is very fond of animals, particularly cats, birds and the amphibians which can be caught in the garden, and childhood scientific experiments, the type seen on kids' TV... baking soda volcanoes and the like. She likes painting with her father, puzzles and occasionally trying to help cook with either parent, although she is only allowed to stir and do little things. Zsiga often jokes that she'll grow up to be a scientist, athlete or zoologist.Others living with you (name, age, relation to the family):
Pets (name, type): Name: Moxie
Type: 9 y.o cat, blue Manx female. Warm, quirky, silly and outgoing. Prone to silly antics. Nivi owned her since she was a kitten and slightly before meeting Zsiga, so she's very much a mummy's cat. Not the brightest crayon in the box but soft, gentle and occasionally a bit of a grumbly old girl. She's very kind hearted, wouldn't hurt a fly and adores Pan, Niviarsiaq and Laila. And her daddy too, to be honest, although she will huff at him more than the others. She's a head-butter, but not a lap-cat unless Pan takes to a person - if Pan likes them, she'll soon be seen sleeping on them.Name: Panteleimon "Pan"
Type: 4 y.o cat, ginger tom-cat. Rescue cat who is sweet, friendly and an utter oddball, full of adventure, odd ideas and spirit. Occasionally temperamental, over-playful and very wilful, extremely smart and full of life and feline instincts. Can be haughty to new faces. Very friendly and protective to those he takes a liking to. A heart of solid gold. Nivi and Zsiga considered keeping their cats as indoor cats, but it was Pan who thwarted every attempt. Pan loves his tummy being rubbed and playing with toys and cat-nip, but will occasionally play-fight with the object of his affections. He's crafty when it comes to getting treats, can open doors and cupboards and is both fearless and an utter softy. Name: Sybilla "Syb", "Billie"
Type: Norwegian forest cat kitten, grey and white. A strong-willed, tomboy girl who is a little shy of strangers. She's very much a boy's cat and adores Pan and curls up with Zsiga. Much to Nivi's amusement and chagrin, Syb will cry at night, have mad moments and grump if she isn't allowed to curl up on her daddy's pillow, and this means all the cats tend to get the bed too.Housing
Type: Detached
Location: UK suburbia. A quiet but communial cull-de-sac. It's about a thirty minute walk from the centre of the very small town, in a rural, leafy suburb. There is a park about ten minutes walk from there, with ducks, woodland and a play area, and a communal green area for growing vegetables and flowers and spending time about ten minutes away. Around the corner, about a minute's walk at most, there is another green area for walking animals, playing games, having communal festivals, parties, barbeques and picnics, hanging out, picnicking and so forth. There is green land opposite, and then a large semi-public park, with a golf-course and golf-club pub and restaurant and park which is open most of the week and most weekends to families and anyone who wishes to drop by. To the west are homes, and then farmland, woodland and a number of small villages, and to the east a serious of small, pleasant streets and a small collection of local shops and roads eventually leading into the main town. To the south are more houses and green areas, including some farms which occasionally operate petting-zoos for local festivals, and paddocks with horses and cows. The community is convivial and friendly. The nearest city is no further than thirty minutes in the car, and London is easily accessible by train.
Land owned: A small garden to the front, and a medium to large space to the back. There are several trees, apple and pear trees, flowers and plants, a decking area, a water feature and a pond.
Bedrooms: 6
Bathrooms: 2
Other: A medium kitchen with eating area, a study, a communal dining room, which ultimately leads on to a living room for relaxing, socialising, spending time as a family, parties and entertaining guests. There is also a conservatory for reading, eating lunch in summer and enjoying the weather, and an attic which suffered well-meaning DIY.
What is/are the household's religion(s)? Zsiga's family is Jewish, but he never had a conventional religious upbringing. He doesn't view religion as important and whilst he would consider himself spiritually inclined, he views personal choice as more important than religious conventions. Niviarsiaq comes from a non-practicing Christian family, with some long-held native Greenlandic Inuit beliefs. She considers herself an agnostic with some Christian and some animist beliefs that she wishes to pass on as ethnic rather than religious heritage to her children. Honestly, though, she is somewhat critical of both her Christian, Danish and Inuit roots, and leans more atheist.
What language(s) do household members speak? Both Zsigmond and Nivi speak fluent English and acceptable but highly accented French. Zsigmond speaks Hungarian and intermediate Russian. Niviarsiaq also speaks Danish and Greenlandic Kalaallisut, with a few words of Hungarian and Russian she has learnt from Zsiga.
Do you travel? If so, how often and where to? Both Zsigmond and Niviarsiaq love to travel. Nivi travels occasionally with work, but currently they are working out how to accommodate for ambitious family holidays. They currently take between a weekend and a week in the autumn half-term to travel to the nearby European countries - Ireland, France and occasionally Spain or Germany. They also occasionally travel to Hungary or Greenland to visit extended family and show Laila her heritage. They don't like leaving the cat in "kitty holiday homes" or their work for too long, but think it is important to let children see and learn to enjoy the world.ADOPTION
How many children would you like to adopt (max 4): 3. 4 if a couple of them wouldn't mind sharing a room part time with one another or Laila when guests are visiting.
Gender(s): No preference
Age: No preference
Nationality: No preference. Zsigmond would like to adopt a child from Hungary, as his brother was adopted, but in reality he doesn't really mind.
Languages preference: Some degree of English is preferred, although they are both willing to work with a child who doesn't speak much or very good English. French, Hungarian, Aluet-Inuit languages and Russian are also good, but really they both feel that linguistic differences can be over-come. Not really all that important.
Religion preference: Not important. That said, very strong religious beliefs might be more difficult to accommodate. Neither parent feels particularly religiously inclined but they do pay lip-service around fun or important holidays.
Will you accept:
--siblings? Yes
--multiples? Yes
--kids with pets? If yes, what kind? Possibly. If so, pets which are mainly caged -e.g, hamsters, gerbils, fish, small reptiles, small tortoises or the like - which can be kept away from the cats. Cats are a possibility but problematic - if they don't get along with Moxie, Pan and Syb, fur will fly - so only young kittens who can be socialised with the other cats are really welcomed strongly, or friendly and easy going cats who can get along with the others. Insects or arachnids, dogs and large reptiles or 100% loose exotic pets are no go.
--children with disabilities/illnesses? If yes, what kind and severity? Mild to medium physical disabilities and illnesses. Nivi wouldn't mind a developmentally disabled child, but neither of them have the training or the time they feel would be necessary to devote to such conditions. Those with pet/fur/cat allergies wouldn't work out, as the cats are very much part of the family.
--pregnant teen/teen mother? No.
--baby's father? No.

Congratulations!Nivi, Zsiga, and Laila, please welcome your new additions :)
River Garrett is a 12 year old boy from the U.S. When River was 8, he and his parents were in a car accident that killed both his parents and left him in critical condition. He spent a week in the ICU but eventually pulled through and recovered. The accident did however leave him mostly deaf in his left ear and he wears a hearing aid. Despite being in and out of foster homes since the death of his parents, River is a surprisingly happy child. He is a go-getter and wants to accomplish as much as he can. Though River excells in his schoolwork and likes to read and do word puzzles and similar activities, what he really loves to do is play basketball, video games, and go hiking. He also enjoys animals, particularly his pet turtle, a red-eared slider names Curtis.
Nikola Áron is five year old boy from Hungary. He speaks Hungarian mostly, and a very little bit of English. Nik grew up with his grandmother since his father left before he was born and his mother never really wanted to have a child. His grandmother has recently become ill and is no longer able to care for him. He was very close with her and wishes to remain in contact with her if you would allow. Nik can be very shy around people he doesn't know well, but once you get to know him he is the sweetest little boy ever. He is very caring and loves to help other people out. Nik is very artistic and loves to draw, paint, and make crafts.
Mei Aaliyah "Mei-Li" is a Chinese-American mixed baby from China. The young mother was the victim of a rape and decided adoption was the best option for her and the baby. Mei is perfectly healthy and spends a lot of time sleeping.
Please keep us updated on how the kids are settling in :)
