I think it's funny how it was ahead of its time. Now we have Mason and Jaden ... probably used by people who would've used Jason when it was "fresh." Right now it's dated ... it was as common as Chris and Mike among my peers in grade school, no exaggeration, and I have only met one Jason that I even sort of liked. Weird. It has never really appealed to me. To me it is sort of unmasculine-sounding, like Jeremy and Joshua are. Not that it would suit a female - just that it doesn't reach my "butch enough" mark.
I doubt it will become very popular again before another 60-70 years passes. But it seems like it would be steadily, quietly used.

I agree with the link you made to Mason and Jaden, I imagine in about 40 years people will have a distaste for Mason, Jaden, Aidan, etc. as many have for Jason now.
I'm one of the people that really dislikes the name and has always disliked it. I think of myself being about 8 years old and many of the older boys having that name, which makes sense since they were 70s kids.
