I'm also not really a huge fan of
Ocean, but mostly because living near the east coast USA it's just a word to me. I've never really thought of
Oisin sounding similar to
Ocean but it really does and in that way could be a great alternative.
I actually quite love
Oisin because of it's interesting sound and it's amazing Irish heritage (I love Irish names!). The only reason I haven't seriously considered it myself is because of the slightly tricky spelling for those not familiar with Irish names, but it's such a great name that I'd love to see it get more use.
Because
Oisin is tied so closely to it's Irish Gaelic origin that it's easy to stick with Irish names but trying some more traditional classic names could balance the uniqueness of the name. I also love
Oisin as a middle name as in
Declan Oisin.
