Do you think Ivy has the potential to reach the top 100? Or will the Poison Ivy association keep it from becoming too popular?
It confuses me a little, in my opinion it should already be common now if it had the potential to be popular. But it is rising rather slowly and I think by the time it comes closer to the top 100, the flower/plant name trend might be over and it will fall again.
How many Ivys do you know? I only know two, very far apart in age. One spells it Ivey, I think it's a family surname.
Opinions on Ivy? Sometimes it bothers me that it kind of sounds like I + V, IV. Opinions?

I really like Ivy. I once did a (very unscientific) name analysis that pinpointed Ivy as the perfect girl name for me. There are other names I like more, but I still find Ivy very appealing. It's just what I like: short and uncomplicated, feminine but not frilly, a nice mix of sweet and edgy. I remember briefly knowing an Ivy in elementary school, but she's the only one.
I think Ivy could break into the top 100, but it also won't surprise me if it tops out somewhere around 150. The poison ivy and I.V. issues really bother some people, and that will hold the name back to some degree. I personally find the I.V. thing more distasteful than poison ivy; for a while, my favorite Ivy combo was Ivy Catherine, but then I realized it's too close to "I.V. catheter."

I think Ivy is definitely going to get more popular. It's been gaining in popularity here in Australia over the past couple of years I think. Poison Ivy is not really an issue over here. I think the fact Beyonce used it for her DD, will help it's popularity. I don't know anyone with the name though.

Isn't Beyonce's baby named Blue? Ivy is just her middle name. I think people don't pay much attention to middle names. Also it fell last year in Australia, from #31 to #33. Just a little bit, but I don't think it has top 20 or even top 30 potential.

I do think the "poison ivy" thing, and the IV thing, stop people from considering it. I have to admit, if I had to call my daughter Ivy all the time, I would be bothered by it sounding like I + V.

If I ever have a daughter, I'd like to name her Ivy. I like the name a lot, and feel that it does have potential to reach the top 100. Hopefully it doesn't! Top 100 names are generally less appealing to me due to popularity, although if I really love a name, popularity won't deter me from using it.

I think Ivy will grow a little in popularity thanks to Beyonce and Jay-Z. Since they chose it for their daughter, it might become more popular with the unwashed masses.

I've only met one Ivy. This was around 10 years ago. She was a lovely, vivacious, red-haired little girl of about 4. She is around 14 or 15 now.
I.V. did come to mind for me in the past, but it doesn't bother me all that much anymore. I stress the first syllable of Ivy and the second of I.V., so they don't sound exactly the same when I say them.

It's a plant, and it's not exactly an "Ivy League" name, either.

hahaha my friend went to Yale and her name is Crystal. I always think it's funny when people assume educated people only name their kids things like Elizabeth and Anne. I went to a private school and people there had the weirdest names.

I think it does have the potential to reach the top 100, but maybe not for a few more years.
I only knew one Ivy personally, and that was one of my paternal great-grandma's. I also had a maternal great-great-grandmother named Ivy.
The only other instance in which I've heard Ivy being used is in Gossip Girl.
Personally, I absolutely adore Ivy! I'd really love to use it.
