I've always thought it was a nice name. It feels very like All-American baseball-y to me. Possibly because of Nolan Ryan. I went to school with two Nolans, and had always been surprised it wasn't more common. Although I suppose it's getting more common, being in the Top 100 and I know at least one little Nolan.
I'd stick with the baseball name thing for combos:
Nolan Andrew
Nolan Charles
Nolan Leland
..can't think of anything else but Ryne, but that wouldn't work!
