I think it suits the character in the Western really well. It sounds cowboyish. Flannel-y, dark-hued, with a large horizontal motion.
Not so great as a girl's name IMHO. It seems in the same vein, style-wise, as using McKenzie for a girl. Only less popular. Also reminds of Destiny ... trendy-style, yeah.
If it were Destrie I would probably feel a tad better about it.
If it were Dextrie I would probably feel two tads better about it.
If it were D'Estrée pronounced deh-TRAY, or even D'Estree or Destree pronounced like Destry, I would not feel particularly better about it, but it would seem far more interesting.
