[Opinions] Kermit
Keep an open mind about this one for a second, and *try* not to think of Kermit the Frog! (Unless that's a good association for you, I suppose...)
What do you think of the name Kermit? Just thinking of it as a general name, not the name of a potential real life child. It's been on my names list for a while; I like the sound of it a lot. I enjoy also how it comes from Dermot / Diarmuid / Diarmaid, another name that I like.

I love it... very cool and you hardly ever hear it.
Thank you for being the first person to not mention the frog! :-)
Kermit would be a great middle name. After all, it's not like Kermit the Frog was a bad guy; everyone loves the Muppets. As a middle name, it wouldn't be up for public scrutiny too much, and he could have a less one-person-name as a first name.
Looking off your list on your profile, Lucian Kermit jumps out as an interesting combo.

But... Ribbit. Ribbit.
But... Ribbit. Ribbit.
I'm quite sure I would like Kermit if it weren't for the Muppet. It's an off-the-beaten-track, unused name and I tend to love those.
However, I just can't banish Kermit the Frog. It's impossible :-(

I think it'll be pretty hard for most people to not think of Kermit the Frog. That aside, I don't care for the name aesthetically. I don't care for the "erm" sound in it. For lack of better descriptor I think it sounds very meek.

Ribbit . . .
. . . sorry! Couldn't help it. No, Kermit means "frog" to me - even though I objectively know that it's an Irish name, there's no way around the frog puppet association.
I think it'd be interesting as a character name (for an adult male of a non-frog persuasion!) but I can't see it on a real person.

I know, it's a hard thing to let go of. :-)
