[Opinions] Olga, Helga, Inga and Ingrid
wdyt of them?

I absolutely ADORE Ingrid! Olga is also very nice, but I dislike both Helga and Inga.
None of them strike my fancy as being in any way very attractive sound-wise... and the latter 2 have this kind of easy foreign bimbo image (ie. they don't speak much En., but are a pretty face and body that guys who only want one thing might get there way with) in the western media which doesn't really help them any.
Ingrid isn't too bad; a bit dated though. The others aren't to my taste at all, and I've got disappointing associations with Olga and Inga.
I love Ingrid. If I was forced to change my name for some reason, Ingrid is the name I'd pick for myself. I'd be an awesome Ingrid.
I also like Olga, though not enough to use it. I know a 50-something Olga, and she's so glamourous. Her whole life seems to be an adventure; she's always doing something outside the norm, like getting her pilot's license or building a log cabin. Because of her, I think Olga has a lot of sparkle, but it's definitely not conventionally pretty.
Helga and Inga are nmsaa.

i think it all depends on the country you live in. these are not North American names by any stretch of the imagination. Olga is Scandinavian and means holy. Helga is German and Scandinavian and means pious. Helge is the masculine version of Helga, and i know a man with that name. for me, i believe that certain names are not easily transportable to other countries. and then there's other ethnic names that are easy to take to other countries. for example, Helge is a good choice in Russia, but not so hot in Canada. Inga and Ingrid are similar types of Scandinavian names that are best suited to that country and the countries surrounding. then there are other ethnic names that transport easily...Lucia, Janina and Maria come to mind. these are names you can take to North America quite easily. you have to consider the language that is spoken in a country before taking another country's ethnic names. for example, Helge sounds nice to people who speak Russian, but doesn't have the same effect in an English speaking country. Ingrid sounds hot in Sweden or other Scandinavian countries, but it doesn't fly in North America.
Helge
I have never heard of this name before. It is definitely not Russian.

well according to 100,000 Plus Baby Names book by Bruce Lansky, it says in there that Helge is a Russian name.
Some of the baby names books are not accurate.
There was a topic on one Russian message board where people made fun of one of those books because 'Russian' names in it had nothing in common with the reality. I cannot find it right now, but I'll try to find it later.

i still think it's possible to use these in North America, these are all fine names in my opinion. you just have to remember that sometimes it is challenging for people to pronounce a name that is from another country. in North America you will have to help people pronounce these. Helge is a fine name and it has a great meaning. when i think of it, there are too many John's, Lynne's, Michelle's and James'. a variety of names is great and ethnic names are hot too!
Why do you think people in North America would have a hard time pronouncing Olga, Helga, Inga, and Ingrid? They're so simple.
Helga and Inga are uncommon, but they're not unheard of in the U.S. For instance, Helga is the wife from the Hagar the Horrible comic strip. Olga and Ingrid have been very well used here and are quite familiar; Olga was a Top 500 name until the 1970s and didn't drop out of the Top 1000 until the 90s. Ingrid is well known because of Ingrid Bergman and has been used steadily since the 50s. It's in the 700 range now.

I like Ingrid, on the right person.
I know too many Olga's I don't like for me to appreciate that name.
Helga I've always found ugly.
Inga is fine, but Ingrid is better.
I like them. I think they're strong and dynamic.
Inga is the only one I like. For some reason Olga, Helga and Ingrid all kind of seem to sand-papery for me. Don't know why though, sorry.
I think the only one that doesn't sound like an old woman to me is Ingrid. I actually know an Ingrid who is in her 20's.
I love Ingrid. I think it's powerful, strong, unique, and classy. I would use it on my own daughter. Olga comes in at a close second. That's definitely because I like Russian names, though. A lot of my friends say that it's hideous. I don't agree. Inga and Helga both seem a little too far down the "dated Scandinavian names" path. Especially Helga. I picture Helga as a really fat lady that no one likes having in his family, or else as Helga Hufflepuff. :( Sorry!
Olga, Helga, Inga and Ingrid won't be most people's cup of tea, I suspect. They are too "heavy" sounding for popular tastes. But that's what I love about them. They are a refreshing change form the usual kind of name.
Olga Lavinia is Appalachian_Pie's combo and it still strikes me as very pretty and old world charm-y.
Helga has the most "ugly duckling" quotient and needs to be handled carefully. I can see a Helga Marion or a Helga Lenore -- nothing too frilly.
Inga is so sweet. It's very musical sounding to my ears.
Ingrid is the most accessible for the general public. I once used the combination Ingrid Maia as a pseudonym on another site. I still think it's pretty.

I love all of them! They're so spirited.
