Help[Facts] French masculine name Mandé
Google devoted their doodle today to Louis Daguerre and I'm curious about one of his names. Does Mandé come from the feast of Maundy Thursday. The name has only been given 3 times as a first name between 1900 and 2003 according to French government stats.

I know quite a bit of French and still can't figure this one out. In the past would it have been a traditional name for someone born on this holiday?
I know it is also the name of an ethnic group in Africa.
