It's funny. I was just reading a biography of Queen Christina of Sweden and her close friend was named Ebba. It struck me while reading that the name Ebba would work well for a pet. :-)
As long as you don't expect the pet / dog to answer to the mn then why not have fun giving him / her one? Give her two or three mns if you like. The more the merrier. Again, as long as the animal is not confused with new sounds then I don't see any harm.
