I like both, but Julius has a more classic feel, and it's not as popular without being a creative twist to try a be different. I love Julius and it's on my list to use. My ex-fiance had a nephew Julius and I was greatly upset my top name wouldn't be an option. That's not why it didn't work out, but still.... I wouldn't personally use Julian, but it's still a nice name.
