[Opinions] Nova?
A coworker of mine and I were discussing her pregnant friend's name ideas and my coworker told me her friend had taken a liking to Nova Skye. I had never heard of the name Nova before, but I like it. Thoughts? Combos?

Lox.My uncle drove a crappy Chevy Nova in the 80s. My other uncle's girlfriend has an annoying little yappy dustmop dog named Nova. Add to that one of the ho-baggiest girls in my high school was named Nova and well, it's not my thing. However, it does make me think of lox. Mmmmm yummy lox.

CuriousHow does Nova make you think of lox? Although I will agree that lox is good. It's the only "seafood" I can tolerate. Probably because it tastes more like salt than salmon. My uncle makes it. :)

Wikipedia says that Nova Scotia lox is often shortened to Nova Lox or just "Nova".

I seem to be in the minority here, but I like it. It's pretty but not too out there.Nova Skye is too cheesy for me. It makes me think of a supernova in the sky, which is a cool image, but I'm just not a fan of the combo despite liking both Nova and Skye. Combos:
Nova Gabrielle
Nova Julianne
Nova Juliet / Juliette
Nova Guinevere
Nova Genevieve
Nova Lillian
Nova Lily
Nova Lenore
Nova Eleanor / Elinor
Nova Eluned
Nova Marguerite
Nova Madeline / Madeleine
Nova Christine
Nova Giselle
Nova Lisette
Nova Caroline
Nova Harmony
Nova Elodie
Nova Meredith
Nova Elspeth
Nova Lorelei
Nova Willow
Nova Adrianne
Nova Adrienne
Nova Gwendolyn / Gwendolen
Nova Persephone
Nova Pauline
Nova Kathleen

The problem with Nova for me as a name is I have so many other associations with it that they become distracting. I haven't read number1212's post, but obviously the American public television series does come to mind. Exploding stars and Chevrolet cars too. I didn't think of Nova Scotia but now that Ozma has reminded me of it it's just another brick in the wall against Nova.Neva ("NEE-vuh") is a similar name that I love. It's a river in Russia, near St. Petersburg. The Russian pronunciation is "nyeh-VAH, " but I have no problem using the English way too. It also means "snow" in another language (Spanish?). Double check that one, though.

Wasn't that a show on PBS?Anyways, I kind of like it as a GP. I wouldn't use it in real life.

That's how I was thinking of it, as well, as a GP.
