An old childhood friend posted on FB recently that she had her baby and named her Aftasie
Vincenza Jean.
I was hoping she would explain something about the background of the name "Aftasie" on FB, but so far she hasn't.
Has anyone heard of Aftasie as a name? Google seems to yield only an acronym from a charity organization in Afghanistan, which I wouldn't totally dismiss as a connection since I don't know too much about her life now, but I haven't seen anything that would make me assume that's it.
I know she has a brother named
Vincent, so maybe that's where
Vincenza comes from.
Could Aftasie be a combo of two names?
(My friend's mom's name is
Laurie and her dad's name is
Victor... neither of those names seem to figure in the name, though! Neither do my friend's or her husband's first names--
Bonnie and
Porter.)
The only other info I can offer is that my friend's husband's family is "what scholars would call 'Amish - Mennonite,'" (his words), and that I think he has studied some Greek, probably ancient Greek as a theological interest.
Any ideas or reactions?
