[Opinions] Lyle?
what do you think of the name Lyle?

I like it and find it very under-appreciated. It sounds like the name of an intelligent person who is strong yet gentle.
There was a good golfer in South Africa called Lyle ... can't recall the ln, which anyway changed when she married. I remember my grandmother giggling at the thought, because she grew up wearing lisle stockings, which were wool and scratchy.
Too surnamey for me by far.

I don't like it at all, sorry.
I'm not crazy about it. My first thought is Lyle Lyle the Crocodile but I also picture a really tall skinny guy.
Meh. Kinda boring. I see a 40-something lanky guy with a microphone who thinks he sings better than he does. No idea why!
May I interest you in Carlyle, nickname Lyle?

I like Lyle. I enjoy the sound, but I also have a positive association/image that comes to mind from the brother of my best friend in school who carried the name...handsome, athletic, good student, all-around good guy.
I also like Lisle, which was my great grandmother's middle name and what she was always called during her life.

I'm not a huge fan. I want to like the sound of it, but I can't quite get past the image of a red-neck-y Kyle (and Kyle is an immature teenager). But I'm definitely open to a nicer Lyle image to take that one's place since I do like the sound and look of it.
It also makes me think of some character from a movie that I can kind of picture but can't remember what it's from... I think played by Diedrich Bader? Was that his character's name in Office Space? Napoleon Dynamite? Or maybe I'm totally off. I don't remember!

I love that Lyle makes you think of a redneck Kyle. I can totally see that!
He was Rex in Napoleon Dynamite... I haven't seen Office Space in such a long time I can't remember what he was called in that one.
I looked it up and it says his name was Lawrence in Office Space. And I didn't see any Lyles. Maybe I'm thinking of a different actor. Yarg.
I searched IMDb for characters named Lyle and can't find anything either. Maybe I just totally made that up.

Not bad, I'd prefer Lyall though.
I find it to be a quite handsome little name, with a bit of an old southern charm. Its in the comfy name catergory for me. Definitely underused.
Sorry. Don't care for the sound of it. I like Kyle though. I think Lyle just sounds too soft I guess. Can't really put my finger on it.
I love it!
