Time for another of my story congrats! For this one, pick a novel (or series, as the case may be), any you like as long as there is a main-character couple (or potential couple) in the story. As always, same-sex couples are allowed. Pick up where the story left off and continue it: tell us what is going on in the characters’ lives, create new plotlines, expand on old ones, give them the life you think they would have after the events of the story. I’ll give very general prompts, such as “a surprise hit the family just before the baby was born” or “something has happened with a family member,” but what direction you go in is entirely up to you. This will probably be easier to do if you choose a book where the characters haven’t had a child yet, but if you really want you can choose one where they have one child or multiples by the end of the story (if names are given you have to stick with them!)
For names, this time I’m going to attempt something a bit different. Each player will create a personal name bank for each round. Each round, each player will list ten names, five for each gender. That will be the name bank for the next round. So with each sign-up, list five girls’ names and five boys’ names, and in Round 1 the names of the appropriate gender will be used. In Round 1, you will give five more names for each gender and these will be added to your name bank and any names you used will be removed. Each round your personal name bank will grow. Sometimes I may say something in the prompt like, “they decided to name the baby after someone they admire” or “the baby’s name was very meaningful to them,” but you can decide how to use this.
Rules
1. Three rounds, no warning, dropped. Pretty basic.
2. Use only names from your personal name bank.
3. This is a story-oriented congrats, and I would really like to see at least a few lines continuing the story each round. If you don’t like writing stories for your congrats, this may not be the right game for you.
4. Have fun!
