[Opinions] Jake on a girl
Saw this in my TV guide as the name of a character in a movie. Do you think it would work in reality and does it need a full name?
I like Jacobine and maybe Jaquetta as long forms

It wouldn't work. And I don't even like the name Jake to begin with!
Jake strikes me as EXTREMELY masculine, as a nn or not
As a nn for Jacobine, I think it's wicked. The world needs more Jacobines.
Man I, um, I kind of like it, I gotta admit, by itself or a nickname for Jacobina etc. I think it's bright and cute.
So weird. Two of my imaginary friends / alter-egos / characters, two of the most longstanding ones I've had, are called Leo and Jake, and I've recently randomly been finding their names appealing on girls.

Nope, it barely works as a brake for a semi-truck. It definitely won't work on a girl. I'm serious.

Yes, this...
Exactly. It might be passable as a nickname and ONLY a nickname for the aforementioned names or Jacqueline and its variants. But that's it.

Absolutely agree
I'm sceptical about it working in reality, but then I hate the name altogether. I think of a thick, angry man with little education.
A full name like Jacobine would be desirable.

No, it sounds too boyish to me. Jakey could work as a nickname for a girl, but Jake is all boy.
