[Facts] Nectan
I was reading about Saint Nectan and was curious as to the meaning of the name. The origins seems to be debatable. I've seen it listed as Welsh, Cornish and Pictish. Any ideas?

Irish Names by O Corrain & Maguire says that Nechtan is cognate with Neptune and meant "descendant of the waters." There were several Irish saints named Nechtan.
Perhaps Nectan is just a Welsh or Cornish variation of Nechtan?
