[Opinions] Hero (f)
I think I've fallen head-over-heels for Hero. I love its mythological/classical significance and its simultaneous familiarity (due to the word "hero") and strangeness. Also, it sounds delicious with my last name, which begins with a B, features a prominent Z sound, ends in "nee," contains three syllables, and is gloriously Italian. What say the commentariat? Does the name's identicalness to the word "hero" pose any problems? Does said identicalness turn you off of the name? Feed me your thoughts!
Of course, I've composed some combos; of course, I solicit your opinions on them:

I don't like it as a name. It is like saying "My child is a hero!!". It comes off as a bit pompous to me.
I adore it! I do slightly prefer Hera because it seems less self-absorbed, if that makes sense. I view Hero as more masc., Hera more fem. That said, Hero is just plain awesome on either gender:)
Out of your combos, I particularly like:
Hero Augusta
Hero Beatrix
Hero Celeste
Hero Celestine
Hero Eglantine
Hero Emmeline
Hero Eulalie
Hero Frances
Hero Helene - I'm currently in an Alliteration phase, and any 'h' name paired with Hero would be awesome. Hero Henrietta, Hero Hermione, Hero Hannelore, Hero Hedwig, Hero Hazel, Hero Hecate, Hero Helga . . . .
Hero Lavinia
Hero Millicent
Hero Ottilie
Hero Penelope
Hero Violet
Hero Wilhelmina
Hero Zinnia

I'm still not a fan. he fact it looks just like the word "hero" just doesn't make it seem feminine at all to me.
It makes me think of the sandwich.
I love it! I think the similarity to the word 'hero' is a good thing-- if your name has to sound like a word, I'd rather it sound like a word with a good meaning. I like:

It definitely intrigues me because of the word. It seems such a strange and silly name, even for a boy, but then to know it's from mythology and legitimately a name, and a feminine one at that, totally blows my mind. It makes me want to like it, but I still have trouble getting over the word association. I guess I'm also not really attracted to the sound of it, so I've had no motivation to try and make myself like it, either.
I like these combos:
Hero Aglaia
Hero Catherine
Hero Ghislaine
Hero Helene
Hero Theodora
It goes well with something butt-kicking. Although Hero Zinnia is really nice, too. I like the colors.
