The suprising events surronding the French Noblemen Jacques Martin deeply upset Delphine and Clementine. Both natives of France fear the hostility that Orlais is displaying. The poor Monsieur Martin was in Orlais on business and while the Orlais and French courts are very different, the orlaisian people were in contempt at his behavior. Delphine removed her self from court during such trying times for her safety and for the saftey of her unborn babe.
It was at home that she gave birth with the aid of the local midwife to Stéphanie Hélène another beautiful healthy baby girl. Maelys is in love with her little sister and tries to coo the little baby asleep. Delphine has decided that court life has been to heated toward native French people and she will keep home for a while sending her sister Clementine in her place.
Clementine is very excited to be taking her sisters place at court. Delphine is unaware of Clementine's activities in a group that has pledged allegiance to support only Prince Phillipe. Delphine has the hopes that Clementine will be able to bring a husband back from her times at the Orlaisian court but Clementine has goals of her own. Mainly those goals consist of spying, and getting as close to the King or his wife as possible. Clementine has taken up flirting with guards and supplying gifts to the Queen to win favor. It has been rumored that Clementine is most effective in her efforts gainning knowledge of the new born heir before the general public.
