[Opinions] Olivia
I know this is the most common name ever, but I love it. I love it more every time I see it. It is just so nicely folded up, smart, elegant, non-ostentatious, and totally beautiful. It's still "refreshing" to me, too; I know several but not enough so that it doesn't happily surprise me to see, especially on people my age.My primary combo for this is Olivia Alexandra, which is my character's name, which I did not choose at all (I did not like Olivia before her, and Alexandra seemed way too obvious, but she was never ever anything else).I wonder what other people think of Olivia. Are you all numb to it yet, or not? Do you think it's pretty, or do you think it's whiny and precious? Would you be bored by it even if it wasn't popular? Do you love it enough to use it anyway?

I don't think it's the most common name ever. I have only met two other Olivia's in my life (Olivia is my DD's middle name). So I obviously love the name. :). I know a lot more Sophia's, Isabella's and Emily's.Olivia Alexandra is gorgeous. Very classic and regal sounding.

I grew up with an Olivia, and that was years before it became popular. It always seemed like such a unique choice stuck in between all of the Ashleys, Jessicas, Jennifers, and Christines. As a result, she's my biggest association with the name, especially because I still have yet to meet a little Olivia.I do think it's a pretty name- feminine without being overbearingly frilly. I like it, even if it is so popular.

I still like it. I liked Olivia ever since I met a friend's younger sister in high school who was very unusually named Olivia. I took it off my list when I started looking at popularities. The frequency of it would stop me from using it, partly because it has spawned those awful variants like Alyvia, but mostly because any classic name that gets popular takes on an air of "classy-ness statement" for me; it starts to sound too conservative for my comfort. I'd probably be more inclined to use Olive. But the name is still lovable. I have similar impressions about it to yours.

I love Olivia. I've actually liked for awhile and still do even with the popularity. I also like the spelling Alivia, though I would most likely use the more traditional if I actually use the name.

I actually only know one Olivia - my cousin (well, my mom's cousin's daughter, whatever that makes her). Her name is Olivia Royal, which I think is really cool. She's 16 or 17, I think. It's funny, I feel like I hear it all the time but I can only think of one. Huh. I guess maybe just because it's so popular I feel like it's everywhere? I guess I feel the same way about Sophia but I've only ever met one Sophia, too. Hmmm.I think it's pretty. I don't *love* it and I don't think I would use it, but it's a nice name. I prefer Olive to Olivia by a little, I think (I met a 3-year-old Olive recently, and I went to school with an Olive too).

I used to haaaaate Olivia, but the other day I was like, "actually, its nice." Weird. But not bad at all. I guess I'm going through a classics phase. Which is too bad, because so many classics names are so popular (like Olivia!).Olivia Alexandra is too long for me. And a bit too frilly. I'm just like that, I like one long name but not two, ha. So I'd like something more like... idk... Olivia June or Olivia Elaine.

Just as a name, without any of the implications of being popular, I like it. But the popularity means I wouldn't use it IRL.

I want to like Olivia, i really do, but it seems every other baby born around here is called Olivia, especially Olivia Rose, Olivia Mae and Olivia Grace *sigh*

I still like it. I think it's very pretty, though I am bored by it now. It has become used a lot. I have never met a person named Olivia who is my own age (27). I am really starting to adore the more rarely used Olive. I wouldn't use it on my own child, though, because it doesn't sound good with our last name.

I don't really like it, prefer Olive or Oliviana. Olive Alexina would be gorgeous

I love it. Olivia has the ability to be melodious and whimsical while still being smart grounded. It's in my top ten.

I really like Olivia. It's a beautiful, traditional name that ages wonderfully and has some nice/cute nickname options. (I like Liv, Livia, Livie, and Ollie.)I'm nanny to a four year old Olivia (occasionally gets called Ollie) and hearing the name almost every day has helped to make the name grow on me. It really does have a lovely sound. The association has also helped it. :) I've taken care of her since she was 7 weeks old and she's grown to be such a sweet, lovable girl!

I definitely like the sounds that make up Olivia; however, I've grown weary of the name.As a middle name, though, it's unexpected and beautiful and lilting and joyous. Gertrude Olivia, Gudrun Olivia, Mildred Olivia, Agnes Olivia, Doris Olivia, Ingrid Olivia, Judith Olivia, Primrose Olivia, Hagar Olivia, Prudence Olivia, Rotraud Olivia, etc. etc.

I simply love it. With a few exceptions, I often don't hear names that are popular. I know of one little Olivia, but none otherwise. Plus I love other well used/loved names like Victoria and Alexandra, I just do. Olivia is no exception and I could see it in my top 10 names. :)

I used to like it, but I'm afraid I have become rather tired of it lately due to its massive popularity.
