[Opinions] Claire
Hi, I'm back with another WDYTO thread. Haha. This time I'd like to know your opinions on the name Claire. Do you prefer Claire or Clara and why? Do you prefer Claire as a first name or middle name?
Do you have any combo ideas? I find Claire hard to make combos for with it as a first name, because of it's monosyllabic nature.

Claire sounds really young and immature to me. I can't picture it on a grown woman.
I much prefer Claire. It is simple yet sophisticated, ages well and is a classic. Everyone has heard of it and maybe knows one or two but in the US anyway, I don't think it is overly popular.
I like it equally as a first or middle name. As a first name, I think it works better with a long middle.
Claire Victoria
Claire Margaret
Claire Elizabeth
Claire Madeline
Claire Annabelle
Claire Marie
Claire Alexandria

I prefer it as a first name, but I don't mind it as a middle name. It just seems more interesting as a first name to me.

Love it love it. One of our favorites and a top contender if we ever had a second daughter. I like Claire the best. The spelling looks more elegant, and I like that it can honor my grandfather whose middle name is Clair. I like it much better as a first name. It's pushing filler as a middle name.
I don't think it's too hard to pair at all. My favorite combos are:
Claire Belen
Claire Caoilfhionn
Claire Euphemia
Claire Guinevere
Claire Marguerite
If we were able to use Claire, her name would be either Claire Frances or Claire Marie.

I like Claire. I think it's very classic but also still has a little spunky/modern feel to it. One of the very few names that posess both those qualities in my opinion. I like it both as a middle name and first name. I probably prefer it as a fn because it seems a teeny bit filler as a mn to me. I think Clara is alright but not as nice as Claire. I find the extra syllable a little unecessary- Claire is already so feminine on its own, why the extra "ah" sound?
I like Claire Louise as a combo :)

I actually prefer the spelling Clare. I don't know which I like it better as. I'd say balance it out with a longer name, when it's used for a first name.
FN combos- Clare Rachael; Clare Penelope; Clare Alexandra; Claire Agnessa; Clare Francesca; Clare Jezebella; Clare Anastasia (anah-stah-zee-ah); Clare Michaela; Clare Amelia; Clare Maryann; Clare Nicoletta; Clare Rosamunde; Clare Isabelle; Clare Stephanie; Clare Joelle/Joella; Clare Hildegarde-- most of these would sound better with a surname attached to the end.
MN combos- Miriam Clare; Hannah Clare; Madeleine Clare; Adah Clare; Lydia Clare; Madison Clare; Barbara Clare; Veronica Clare; Monica Clare; Amelia

I have negative connotations, and I feel that it's overused.
It doesn't feel overused to me, at least not where I live. It's too bad that it conjures up negative connotations for you.
