I have a major crush on the name Alden, so I pretty much include in every combo I can fit it into. I find it very charming, and it's a subtle reference to my interest in space, as it's Neil Armstrong's middle name.

I have a soft spot for Joseph because it was my father's name, although he always went by a totally unrelated nickname. I don't care for Joey or Joe, however. I would try to call him Joseph--it's not long or difficult to say, so I think it would work as an every day moniker. I'm not sure how I would feel about it if it hadn't been my dad's name. Even so, I don't like it quite enough to use as a first name, though if I'd ever had a second son, I would have given him the middle name Joseph after my father.

I'd probably use Joey as more of a "pet name" than a true nickname. I prefer full names most the time. Hearing Joseph rather than Joe is rather refreshing.

I love the name Joseph. I have the cutest four year old nephew named Joseph Anthony "Joey" so I'm probably biased. His name fits him perfectly though.

I love a lot of plain, classic boy's names, but only recently has Joseph started being one I can get into. Probably because I just went to school with SO many Joes, of all different personalities. It's just such a generic guy name.Joseph Gregory and Joseph Alden are nice. For some reason I want to pair it with a religious/Latin type name, like:
Joseph Angelus
Joseph Columcille - ooh!
Joseph Franciscus
Joseph Augustine
Joseph Pius
Joseph Alphonsus - the reverse of this is a favorite combo of mine
Joseph Anselm
Joseph Ignatius
Joseph MagnusOther than that, some other ideas:
Joseph Abel
Joseph Bernard
Joseph Cairbre
Joseph Dacre - oh, I really like this!
Joseph Faramund
Joseph Gordon
Joseph Kentigern
Joseph Mannix
Joseph Nicanor
Joseph Rory - like this too
Joseph TristramI hope you like at least one of those! I'm really starting to see it as more of a rough name before-- and I love that!

I agree that it's a little plain/generic, but I tend to like "classic" type names like that, so Joseph fits in well. I never noticed a ton of Josephs in my peer group before university. It's growing on me like Robert is. As a "plain" name with a strong, manly side that is too often overlooked! It works perfectly paired with religious/Latin names, since I'm a religious Roman Catholic. :)
I love Joseph Ignatius and Joseph Augustine. I like all the others on this list as well, excluding Magnus. Unfortunately, I never warmed up to that name.As for the others, Joseph Gordon appealed to me right away, but Joseph Gordon-Levitt is one of my sister's favorite actors, so I think I'd have to avoid. I like Joseph Mannix, but I don't know if I could get away with Mannix!Thank you so much for your comment. :)

OhhhJoseph Gordon-Levitt, forgot about him. Maybe that's why Gordon seemed to click with it!

Joseph is a handsome classic that will wear well over time. Joey is a tad cutesy for me. But it's easily changed to Joe if he doesn't like it and it's only a nn. So on the whole Joseph, nn Joey, gets enthusiastic thumbs up from me. I like Joseph Gregory and Joseph Alden from your list. A few more:Joseph Emil
Joseph Rayner / Rainer
Joseph Gavin
Joseph Bartholomew
Joseph Bartimaeus
Joseph Max
Joseph Daniel
Joseph Mendel
Joseph Bernard
Joseph Nathaniel
Joseph Cormac
Joseph Malachi
Joseph Redmond
Joseph Aubrey
Joseph Barnaby
Joseph Hawthorne
Joseph Matthias
Joseph August
Joseph Levi
Joseph Absalom
Joseph Annayo
Joseph Rory

Joseph Mark
Joseph Peter
Joseph Aloysius
