I absolutely love all forms of Valentin - it's so hard to choose which one I prefer! I guess it depends what 'feel' you're going for. Valentino seems more exotic, I picture it on a more exotic, vibrant person, somewhere from Italy or Spain or even South America. Valentin, on the other hand, seems more cultured, refined, more 'European', artistic - somewhere from Germany, France or even Eastern Europe. And Valentine feels more 'English', and hippy-like. I guess after all that I prefer Valentin -not too exotic, not too literal either. And I love the nn Tin!I don't care for Mercedes at all.

Well, I think if I use it for a Croatian character I'll use Valentin, since that's the form used here. I think I prefer Valentino of them all, Valentine is more a female name to me (even though I prefer Valentina).
