Barney isn't good, but I rather think it's inevitable. I don't object to dinosaurs - just names! And either Barnaby or even Barnabas is interesting and edgy in itself, with a faint air of the Dickensian about it, or Victorian bankers.
I'd be more likely to use it than Dorian, mostly because Dorianne is a familiar compound here: I know two who were both Dorothea/Dorothy plus Anna/Ann so that's not even ambiguous. But for practical reasons (and a barney is a bar-room brawl!) I'd keep it in the mn position.
