I encountered the name
Saira today. At first, I thought that it might be a trendy spelling of
Sarah, but after looking it up, I found that it's an Arabic name that possibly means "traveller." The meaning is lovely. Together, the name and the meaning remind me of a woman with a long flowing skirt traversing the desert in the middle of the night.
I like it pronounced SIGH-ra, but I'm guessing that sah-EE-rah is probably more accurate.
