For English speakers, yes, Dasha can stand just fine on its own. I don't know about its usage in Russia (assuming it's Russian?), but that wouldn't impact on your child's everyday life.

I've never heard of Dasha before or Dariya! I've heard of Daria but not Dariya. Dasha is okay but it sounds rather like Dasher and therefore reminds me of Santa Clause's reingdeer! :) I would pronounce it like Dah-sha or Daw-sha.

I think it could stand on it's own. It would be like using Kate, Beth or Maggie as a formal name for Catherine, Elizabeth and Margaret.

I guess it could stand on its own, I'm not too crazy about it but also don't mind it really. It doesn't sound too nicknamey to me.
I would prn it DAH-sha.
