[Opinions] Gudrun
I know only a handful of people like this name, since it doesn't have a good rating on my PNL, but I think it's cool. It's a name that demands your attention, and the mythology behind it is pretty badass.Opinions? Combo ideas?

Awwww! I think it's nice. I wouldn't use it, but I'd love to see it on someone else's kid. For some reason I feel like it would go well with an Irish MN. How about:Gudrun Saoirse
Gudrun Siobhan
Gudrun Mairead
Gudrun Eithne

Ugh!I agree with Sigrid on this one: "Incredibly dated. I'd weep if I met a young Gudrun."
The youngest Gudrun I have met was probably at least 45. Gudrun also makes me think of the storm that hit here in northen Europe in January 2005 which killed 7 people here in Sweden. The name Gudrun was used for the storm here in Sweden while I think Erwin was used in the rest of the world?http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Erwin_(storm)

The character in The rainbow and Women in love puts me off rather: typical DH Lawrence chick, but I don't enjoy Lawrence in general. So I have difficulty in being polite about it.

The Gudrun's I know:Gudrun Marta (x2)
Gudrun Elin
Gudrun FilippiaI don't really like it paired with any 'English' middle names, but that could just be because its not what I'm used to hearing!

The man across the street named his dog this a couple of years ago. Poor dog. Sorry, don't care for it.

Where are you from? I ask because I've never met a Gudrun, so I'm wondering where it would be considered dated. You don't have to answer if you don't want to, though. :)

It's dated in Germany too. And not dated to a good time period, you know. It's kinda 30s/40s dated.

I live in Sweden.Names goes in cycles. Names from the 1910s (like Astrid, Irma, Svea and more) are very "hip" in Sweden right now and was probably considered very dated 20-25 years ago. Gudrun was common in the 30s and 40s and will probably come back in style in about 20-30 years from now. :)

To me, Gudrun feels dated as in Medieval, not modern. But then I'm in the US, and an area that doesn't have many foreigners.
