Soon after the celebrations of the birth of Princess Petra's first child, a dear little son named Jordan, had ended, King Alexander announced his intention to abdicate in favor of his daughter, Amelia. His intention came as a huge surprise, especially as he is in excellent health and still a popular and effective ruler. His reason, as he explained to his family, is simply that he wants to enjoy his old age and beign a grandfather. He feels that Amelia is ready and that the time is right for her to take the throne. Amelia is nervous and a little worried, but she knows her parents will help her if she needs their expertise. She and Matthew will be crowned as Queen and Prince Consort at the end of the month. Should anything happen to her, Matthew and Matthias will rule as co-regents until Susannah is ready to take the throne.
