Ever since I've seen the movie Fried Green Tomatoes, I've loved the name Idgie. However, I've also been wondering if Idgie's a shortened version of another name. If so, I'd really like to know what.

I think Idgie Threadgoode's name was Imogen or Imogene. I've always thought Idgie was a really fun nickname.

I would go with Bridget as well and maybe Ingrid or Elizabeth but both are a stretch.

I am thinking that the full name of the character in the movie was Imogen or Imogene. I don't know exactly how you get Idgie from that, but I'm pretty sure that was her full name. I think you could also use it as a nickname for Isabelle or Isabella. Maybe also Bridget, since both Bridget and Idgie have the same IDGE sound?
