[Opinions] Ignatius
Hi
Im 28 weeks pregnant with my third boy. My first born was named after my late father-in-law Jonathan, my second born is Marcus and am stuck for my third boy. Ever since Cate (Blancet) called her third boy Ignatius (nn Iggy) its had me thinking. Our surname has chinese roots (my husband) and I have Italian parentage.
What do you think? Is it a bit heavy for a common person to pull off?
Any other suggestions?
Thanks a mil

Cate Blanchet and her son are "common people," too.
I know a Brendan Ignatius who goes by Iggy; he is in his 20s. No one really thinks anything of it. I think it's a handsome name.

I love Ignatius and it makes a fantastic brother to Jonathan and Marcus. I do think its a bit on the heavy side, but I adore it anyways and wouldn't let that stop me from using it. I love the nicknames Iggy and Nate as well, and I think they lighten up the name itself and make it easier for a little kid to pull off.
I don't think it's too heavy to pull off; I've met an Ignatio (nn Iggy) in real life, and it seemed to fit him well (he was a young boy about 8 or so when I first met him)
My brother is in love with this name, and wanted to use it for a son until my SIL said it just wasn't happening. She thinks it's too heavy for a little kid, Iggy notwithstanding.
I kind of agree with my SIL. It's a fine middle name, but it sounds pretentious as a first name.

Ignatius goes well with Jonathan and Marcus, and it's pretty awesome with every Chinese surname that I can think of. Go for it.
agreed!
That would be an amazing set, somehow they all work together wonderfully.

I like the sibset...
I say go for it. You could use Iggy or Nate as nns...

Ignatius is fine. Maybe Nate as a nickname?
