I have never met a Jane in my life, so it really doesn't strike me as boring or plain. (at least in the overused sense)
To me, Jane is a simply pretty name; it's short and sweet but not bland. In fact, I never make the "plain Jane" association. If anything, I associate this name with Jane Eyre, one of my favorite books.
