[Opinions] Julia.
I've suddenly fallen in love with the name and I'm not sure why. WDYT? I love Saint Julian of Norwich, but I'm not fond of Juliana. Jillian is another thought, but I find it too suburban yuppie. I suppose Julia is too.Argh, any ideas? We've thought about using Julian for a boy, especially since it would honor a favorite character. The problem is that I don't really like Julian that much for a boy. There is something about it that is nagging and annoying.HelP!

Well, I like the name Julia, because I think it's old-fashioned, but can fit perfectly into the modern crowd, lively, and a pretty-sounding and looking name. And it's my name, so that may contribute to why I like it. :P I like my name.I don't like Julian that much for a boy (or girl) either. What about Juliet? Juliette? Julie?

Julia is beautiful.
I also like Julie, like that, not as a nick-name.

Jillian is so country to me. I know Jillians and Jills that are totally plaid shirt and pigtails kind of girls. o_O Or at least they were when we all went to middle school and whatnot together. Julia is a beautiful name, so pretty and classy and regal. It strikes me as a sophisticated choice in as of itself, but certainly it is in comparison to what I think is an "elaborate but missing the mark of elegance" Juliana. As a matter of interest the only Julias I know are between 50 and 70; every one of them goes by Julie.

Interesting.I've known one Julia (she went by Julie as well) and one Julie - both between 25-35. Yet the name seems more common to me, not sure why.ANd I totally see wha you mean with Juliana. Hubby likes Juliana, not so hot on Julia. I suspect in the end we'll probably just use Julian as a middle name. :-/

I love Julia. It's equally strong and soft, and wonderfully feminine without being sugar sweet. Much better than Juliana, and Jillian. There is also Julie, which I like but not as much as Julia. My favorite combo is Julia Catherine.I'm not sure I like Julian. It's a very noble feeling name, but the sound throws me a little. I like Julian Augustus.

I love Julian! It's sweet and sophisticated and I imagen all Julian's to be handsome and nice young men. Julia on the other hand is a name I can't stand. I find it "annoying" whiney. Maybe that is because I've met far to many Julia's, I don't know.

I like Julia. It's a sweet name but a bit bland. I think Julia is pretty timeless and it works on a little girl as well as on a grown woman. Personally, if I were choosing between using Julia for a girl or Julian for a boy, I would go with Julian. There's something sophisticated about Julian that I like though I slightly prefer Julius.

Julia is beautiful, it's feminine but not young and frilly. It has stood the test of time but isn't overly boring. The only Julia I know in person is fifteen year old Julia Manisha. She's from Bangladesh.I agree with Julian being nagging and annoying.Combos that you might like or give you ideas:Julia Helen
