[Opinions] Naoise
Wdyt of Naoise (pro. NEE-sha)?
Theoretically, what are your thoughts; I'm naming characters not actual people so think of it in that sense.
It's male for those who aren't familiar with it.
Also, what are your favourite Irish or Scottish names?

I like it, though i'd assumed it was female. I'm not sure how i feel about it used on a male, but as a character it would be fine, well except for the fact that alot of your readers probably wouldn't know how to pronounce it at first.
Thanks! ...

It sounds like it would be better on a girl. It's a very pretty name. Some faves of mine:

Isolde
Nia
Niamh
Nimue
Sioned
Gwen
Guinevere
BOYS
Caedmon
Ioan
Gareth
Galahad
Tristan
Callum
Shan - Actually a girl's name butI think it could work on a boy.
Cole - Old King Cole was a Celtic king, right?
Innes
Eamon
Nevan

Ah, Shan on a boy. Don't know if I could handle that since that is the Anglicanized version of Sian.
I'm way too close to Sian as girl's name. I'll stick with Shane or Sean on a boy.
Otherwise, I like:
Elen
Isolde
Nia
Niamh ♥
Sioned -This is new to me. Hello, newest name on my PNL.
Guinevere
Ioan
Gareth
Tristan ♥
Callum

I like the sound of it, though as a real name I think it would be tricky to carry off outside Ireland. If he was a character I'd expect the book to be either high fantasy, or set in modern-day Ireland with him as a fairly young person.
I'm not really that interested in Irish names, but I like Oisin and Ailbhe. Scottish names: Innes and Moray and Tasgall and Morven come to mind and there are probably a few more I can't remember right now.

Thanks!
I really like Ailbhe and Tasgall. :)
I think my character is going to be a wide-eyed circus brat who does acrobatics in a circus so run-down that is should be shut down. That way it will have a fantasical edge to it without being fantasy exactly. It will have a collection of people from everywhere probably.

It's very gentle and soft. It's pleasant, but I wouldn't quite say I like it.
