Oh, I have a character named this - I spent about an hour listing all the possible nicknames for her. The two I settled on were Eule (YOO-lee) and Lolly.

It seems old lady-ish to me. It reminds me of a Ukalale(I am not sure how to spell that!) Aside from that it has a beautiful flowy sound and I can see it growing on me. I love Layla.

Defintely mn only. It would shorten comfortably to Lia if you like, but I find it too long and fussy.

I used to know a little girl named this and I always liked it.
But her parents usually just called her Laila.
And it always brings to mind shiney shoes because she always wore little shiney shoes. Think she had a whole closet of those things.

I like it in theory, but it's a bit too much of a tounge-twister for me to use IRL. I like it for a character though. Eulie, Lalia, Layla, or Lia would be good nns for it IMO.
