[Opinions] Derek
What are your opinions of Derek? A close friend of mine recently told me it was his favorite name since he was young.

With the right middle name of last name, this name can go from golden to trash. But assuming, the names it is paired with are good, I like it.
I know two rather lovely boys named Derek.

I have always thought of it as a villain's name
Probably because of a movie or book where the bad boy was named Derek... dunno. Haha

It's ok, but really not a name I could ever get excited over. I grew up with a lot of Dereks, so it's like the name Jennifer for me. Very early-90's. But it is a very nice, ordinary boy name.
I think it's one of those names that tries too hard.
Very sweet and he can grow with it. Also the name of my roommate's son, although she destroyed it with the horrid spelling of 'Deryk'.
This is a name I really like. It just sounds handsome to me. But I would never use it because it's a good friend's husband's name. It would feel weird to use it but I do love it.
It sounds "gay," to me. As in Derek Zoolander!
I thought his character was straight.
Sorry, my mistake you're right. I was thinking something else.
For some reason I have never liked Derek. At all. Like, it's one of my least favorite male names of all time. I don't even know why, I just find it wretched.
It's a good name. Not my favorite, but it's a good solid name.
I want to like it, and in a sense it is handsome, but it just reminds me of an oil derrick
It's got good solid history and a reasonably pleasant sound. Unfortunately, I have a seedy Uncle Derek, so I've never liked it.
I don't know. At first I think I dislike it because it's dated and kinda makes me think of a stupid immature dirt-bike-riding teenager. But then if I think about it a bit more it feels pleasantly dated and I can also picture it on a nice, average-Joe sort of guy.

Eh. I'll leave it and won't necessarily take it.
