Well, my name is
Francesca
and my nickname used to be
Fanny
, which where I am doesn't have the implications it has in English. I guess
Fannie
is less awkward than
Fanny
, but I don't live in the US.
I've sometimes heard it used as a nn for
Stephanie
.
