I really prefer this spelling. There's something about Esmee that really irks me, and I think people are more likely to mispronounced Esmee than Esme.
I wouldn't worry that it is masculine in origin - imo Esme is one of the few truly beautiful unisex names.

I agree. Esmee looks too busy, like there are too many Es in that short name.
