I'm not a fan. It's one of those names that I've never liked and have wondered why it was ever used.

EDIT: Plus that stupid song that goes "Gary, Indiana, Indiana, Indiana..." or whatever gets stuck in my head whenever I hear "Gary".

In a bit of a roundabout way, the city in Indiana is what inspired the use of Gary as a personal name. Gary's use as a name for baby boys was inspired solely by the film star Gary Cooper, which was not his real name. He took the name Gary from the city.
