[Facts] The Name Tesho
Does anybody have any idea what the name Tesho could mean? I came across it in a family tree, and apparently, it's a masculine name. However, they didn't list Tesho's ethnic background or other further information. His last name was Shama.
TIA!

The name Tesho (Тешо) could be South-Slavic (Bulgarian, Serbian, Bosnian, Croatian, ..).

The above site claims that the name Tesho is abbreviation of Uteshen/Uteshan which means Consolated.
This site (BTN) gives Arabic origin of the name Shama. The Turkish word şamar (meaning cuff, slap in the face; also a loanword in Bulgarian) could also be an origin of the last name Shama, after shortening.

If you found it in a family tree, can you at least give the surname(s) associated with it? That might give a hint as to ethnic background.
His last name was Shama.
