The last five years have not been easy for Edward, Lillian and their children. There has been a draught and as such, most of their crops have gone to waste, and they have also lost a large number of their livestock. They have done the best they can to keep the farm going, but Edward has had to take a job in town to supplement their income. As a result, the farm has become Lillian and young Eddie's responsibility, and they seem to manage well.
This time has also seen Edward and Lillian welcome two more children. Catherine was born 1987, and the family got to spend two wonderful years with their little Cate before small pox struck. Cate, Meg and Tom all became ill, but thankfully Meg and Tom survived unharmed, their darling Cate however passed away. It was a very hard time for the family, but especially hard for Lillian as she had discovered she was pregnant again and so was not allowed to be near her sick children in fear of her catching the disease and harming their unborn child.
Two months after Cate's tragic death, little William was born. It was the strangest thing as on the day he was born, it also started to rain for the first time in a very long time. The family truly beleive that their little Cate brought the rain's to them on that day to remind them that were still living, and she would be living on through them.
