Henriette Noelle is a seven-year-old French-American girl. She is raised in a strange mix of Catholicism (from her French mother) and Christianity (from her American father). But when her mother died and her father was lost in severe depression, she was given for adoption. Henriette likes to watch films, ballet, and drawing.
Cameron Lewis is a nine-year-old boy from England. His family found his autism hard to cope with, and after nine difficult years decided it will be best to let him grow with another family that is more able to care for him. They wish to remain in contact with him and his progress, though. Cameron likes toy cars, playing with levers and mechanical objects, and playing random notes on the piano.
Ingrid is a four-year-old girl from Germany. Her parents were abusing her, and she was taken for adoption. Inge likes to play with dolls, paint, and watching cartoons. She is also known to be partial to the tales of Cinderella and the Winnie the Pooh films.
Rudolf is Inge's twin brother. He, like Inge, also likes Winnie the Pooh, but he is more susceptible to football (soccer) than dolls. He has a slight gastritis problem, especially in times of great stress.
