I far prefer Caroline to Carolyn.
Carolyn has a dated feel to it, while Caroline doesn't. Caroline is more classic. And I guess I just prefer the sound of the last syllable of Caroline to the sound of the last syllable of Carolyn.

I agree--Carolyn is cute in a way, but does sound kind of dated. Maybe because there are a lot of middle-aged people named Carolyn--ppl born in the 1940's, 50's and 60's
